About Jonathan
Joonthan was born April 13, 1976 in Danbury, Connecticut to Mary and Greg Brandis.
At the tender age of 2, Mary drove to NYC for Jonathan to do his first poster for Buster Brown Shoes, after this they would make the trip daily for him to work on commercials, then he got a soap part on "One life to live" at 6.
At age 9 Jonathan's parents decided they needed to move out to California so Jonathan would be closer to the 'acting scene'. Almost immediatly he won a made-for-tv movie role in "The poor little rich girl" with Farrah Fawcett. he continued to win small roles untill the best selling novel from Stephen King "It" was going to be made into a TV movie/series. Jonathan won the role of 12 year old, William "Stuttering Bill" Denbrough. This gave leadway to one of the biggest successes of his career because after "It" was made he got an offer for the lead role in "The Never Ending Story II". Both movies were a hit. He continued to get movie roles like "Ladybugs" with Rodney Dangerfield, and "Sidekicks" with Chuck Norris. As Jonathan got older her became a natural Teen Idol, with those eyes who can be surprised?. He broke the record for appearing on more Magazine covers, previously held by New Kids on the Block. Every teen aged girl wanted to be with him and every teenaged boy either hated him, or wanted to be him (probably the girl angle) but it was Tatyanna Ali, star of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, that caught his eye. Tatyanna and Jonathan dated for years before they called it quites. Anyway, back to the story at hand. Jonathan had been in commercials, movies, magz, everygirls fantasy, and he found time for school too! Jonathan doubled up on his courses his junior year of high school and graduated a year early, and was also named "Who's who among American High School Students", that is like the top 5% of students in America. All the hard work paid off for him because he got the biggest hit of his career when he played Lucas Wolenczak on Steven Spieldburg's SeaQuest for 2 seasons. This sky rocketed his popularity. During the break from SeaQuest, Jonathan did TV work, such as a voice in the TV series "Aladdin"
Unfortunatly, Jonathan was labeled. He was just another child actor, to producers anyway. He continued to get Magazine work. He made a number of movies 1994- 2001. One of the major roles he was signed in 2002 to play in "Hart's War" with Bruce Willis and Colin Ferral. (Jonathan had both of these guys beat in looks with his eyes and crooked smile alone) The movie was a success. With movie roles throughout 02 and 03, Jonathan's career was starting to look up. Then in November, 2003 depression set in. He had lost one of his best friends and co-star of "It" just two months earlier, John Ritter. November 11, Jon decided he was tired of living.
He had tried to kill himself by hanging, a friend came in and called the peramedics, who rushed him to the hospital where he died the next day from his injuries. |

Why?
There are a lot of reports floating around that are stating "His friends knew" and "He tried to tell someone but no one took him seriously"
I can tell you from personal experiance, when someone is contemplating suicide, they won't always tell someone. They often don't. But when someone does what they are saying is "I want help. I want to escape my problems, please help me" If you hear anyone say "I am going to kill myself" or "I want to die" take them seriously, suicide is nothing to play around with, never take it as a joke, take it for what it is, a cry for help.
I am not saying Jonathan's friends know what was going on, I am not saying they didn't, I don't know. But I can tell you this, when you think someone will do themselves a harm, listen, when they have a problem and need someone to talk to, listen. Trust me. I don't know how many times I wish I was there when one of my friends needed someone to talk too, he commited suicide.
I know everyone is asking themselves "Why?, Why did you leave? Why didn't you get help?" There is only one person who can answer, and we will all have to wait.
